Dr. John’s Grammar Quiz #9


Grammar quiz #8 contained one of those errors careless writers (journalists, in particular)  often commit. The Committee Democrats weren’t asked, “Hey, want some comment?”.  The fix is: “declined to comment.” Congrats to Carrie T. for her eagle eye.

Dr. John’s Grammar Quiz #9 Now, all you careful writers (and loyal followers of Dr. John) can you spot the glaring grammatical error in this sentence? “U.N. inspectors wanted to visit suspect biological and chemical weapons sites.”

  1. I’m going to take yet another shot in the dark and say that “suspect” should be “suspicious”. The former is a noun and the latter is an adjective.
