A little mnemonic device to help you spice up your structure. Remember the Three C=s:
THE CLOCK. Place your action in the shadow of a ticking clock. Time pressure forces your character to take action. And action is character.
THE CRUCIBLE. Constraining your characters as you apply the heat. Even if they wanted to run out, they could=t.
THE CONTRACT. Make promises to the reader, then keeping them. Chekhov said if there is a gun on the wall in the first act, better fire it in the third. Things pay off-there are consequences.
